Morocco could be a new destination for Bangladeshi e-commerce
Morocco, a North African country, is all set to become a new business destination for Bangladeshis by dint of cross-border e-commerce. Leaders of the sector have expressed hope that the country could reach new horizons in the export of garments, fisheries and agricultural products, medicines and technology products and services online from Bangladesh. Bangladesh Foreign Minister M Shahriar Alam is visiting the country to make this possibility a reality.
Meanwhile, he held separate bilateral meetings with Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Riyad Mazur, Minister of Agriculture, Marine Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forest Affairs Mohamed Al-Siddiqi and Director General of the Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE) Youssef Al Bari. Meetings were held with Moroccan Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Business Promotion Council, Chamber of Commerce, Port Authority and several other organizations.
Shahriar Alam is accompanied by a 12-member delegation including businessmen. The delegation includes high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives from the business and manufacturing industries.
During the meetings, Abdul Wahed Tamal, General Secretary of e-Cab, highlighted the strength of Bangladesh's e-commerce sector and the technological potential of its youth to take advantage of the country's opportunities through cross-border e-commerce.
"During the visit, we have held a number of important meetings in Morocco under the leadership of State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam," he said. There have been important discussions about business opportunities, I have talked about the potential of e-Commerce industry cross border business and ICT business on behalf of e-Cab. I was with the delegation team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with a member of FBCCI, BGMEA and several other business organizations. We hope that Bangladesh's business with Morocco will open up new possibilities.
Earlier, the State Minister of Bangladesh also attended the historic 7th March Day celebrations at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rabat.
